Afternoon In the Park

Inspired by the beautiful weather we've enjoyed lately and by the great kids that walk through the doors of the studio each week, "An Afternoon in the Park" was born.  We like to give all of our classes at Ooh La La an addtional performance during the dance season to familiarize them with an audience and to expericence what performing on a stage feels like. We also are very lucky to have a great group of parents and extended family members that have become such an important part of our studio life.  What better way to get to hang out with great people and watch our talented kids than to picnic.  The Kiosk at Brawley's Plaza Park seems to be the perfect venue for this casual, fun event.  Our Musical Theatre class is sure to tickle your funny bone with interpretations of popular "random" skits as seen on TV.  A few of our Creative Movement classes will show-off their adorableness (is that a word, if not, it is now) and our tappers well, we'll let their feet speak for them.  I'm sure there will be a few surprises in store as well.  So pack up the picnic blanket and join us in the shade of Plaza Park for what we hope will be come a "family" tradition.  FYI  the Presbyterian Church half a block down the street is holding their annual Tri-tip dinner the same day, a perfect opportunity to grab some great food and enjoy a great afternoon.

Fair-ly Exciting

I love fair time.  The studio is a buzz with talk of sheep, calves, pigs and a host of other 4H and FFA animals and the kids are excited about carnival rides and corn dogs.  Perhaps the most exciting thing about the fair in our opinion is another opportunity for our dancers to perform.  Sunday, February 28th at 2:00 PM  Ooh La La dancers will take the stage at the Plaza de la Cultura. For those not familiar with the fair grounds, the Plaza de la Cultura is the building immediately south of the Grand Stands.  The stage is tucked behind the east side of the building (not great for foot traffic, but it's in the shade).  The kids have all been working really hard and love to perform so it sould be a great show.  I'll double check the list of classes performing and post them Monday.  If you are dancing, please arrive by 1:45 so that we can begin on time.  As always, if you have any questions, please call the studio at 760-351-8502.  Happy Dancing!  http://www.ivexpo.com/

Welcome to Our World

Well, here it goes, my first attempt at the world of blogging. I've ben inspired by a few mom friends that have discovered the joy of a blog as a creative way to keep in touch with family and friends. So, I thought, "Why not start an Ooh La La blog?" I usually weigh the advantages and disadvantages of any decision I make and create the usual list of positives and negatives of any situation (yes, it's tedious, but it's just how I roll). Let's start with the disadvantages as I like to get negativity out of my system right off the bat. Disadvantage #1, I'm not a blogger (whatever that really means). My writing background is technical in nature and I lost my knack for creative writing years ago when it was no longer required to impress professors or prospective employers. Disadvantage #2, hmmmmmm. Okay, now the advantages. Advantage #1, a blog is somewhere dancers, parents and prospective students can visit to get the latest and greatest, most important information about classes and our studio. Advantage #2, we can post tips, links to intersting articles, and things we think are just funny. Advantage #3, dancers and parents can post questions they have about his/her particular class, studio policies, and dance in general. Advantage #4, a blog is a great forum to be able to brag about our fabulous dancers and our extended dancing families (that's you). It seems the advantages way outweigh the disadvantages so all and all this blog thing might work. I hope you will check back often and share ideas, ask questions and continue the tradition of excellence of all out awesomeness that is Ooh La La (already bragging).
